Passive security measures, usually architectural elements in-and-of themselves, address such issues as “defensive architecture” and “crime prevention through environmental design.” Active security field devices such as cameras, card readers, etc., can be overtly or covertly designed, depending on the client’s security philosophy. All exposed devices are then coordinated with the architect for size, type, placement, color, finish, etc., so as to appropriately blend with the architect’s vision and the aesthetics of the project.
